Stephanie Killam is appointed by the Board as a Director of the McLeod Lake Mackenzie Community Forest Corporation.
She has lived in Mackenzie since 1972. She was the senior secretary at Mackenzie Secondary School from 1979 to 2006.
Stephanie is committed to the community and the region, promoting initiatives which improve economic, health and educational opportunities. She is well-versed in environmental issues and the balance that is required between those concerns and the economic development of the community’s future.
The depth of her involvement in the community is exemplified by the many committees of which she has been a member. Politically, she was a municipal councillor for nine years, in November 2005 was elected the mayor of Mackenzie, re-elected as Mayor in November 2008 and retired in 2014.
Stephanie is currently serving in the community in various capacities: President of the Autumn Lodge Society (seniors), Vice President of Rotary Club, member of the Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Mackenzie Counseling Board, Vice Chair of the Mackenzie Nature Observatory and Director of the McLeod Lake – Mackenzie Community Forest. In the past Stephanie has served as a CUPE shop steward, high school grad sponsor, member of the Club 55 executive (seniors social activities), the Mackenzie Co-operative Board, the Mackenzie & District Museum and a member of the Municipal Emergency Program committee.
In addition, Stephanie serves Provincially as chair of the Muskwa-Kechika Advisory Board, Chair of Geoscience BC Board, s a Director on the Fraser Basin Council and Director on the Northern Health Authority.
