What is a Community Forest?

The McLeod Lake Mackenzie Community Forest (MLMCF) is part of the British Columbia Community Forest Association network of rural community-based organizations engaged in community forest management.

Established in 2009, our community forest agreement grants the McLeod Lake Mackenzie Community Forest Limited Partnership the right to harvest up to 30,000 cubic metres of timber per year on 24,664 hectares of public forest lands in the Mackenzie timber supply area.

Profits from MLMCF timber sales are used to achieve the Community Forest’s mission and objectives, including short and long-term forest management planning and operations, profit-sharing, and community investments.

The MLMCF is a partnership of the District of Mackenzie and the McLeod Lake Indian Band.
