Andy Barnes is appointed by the District of Mackenzie as Director of the McLeod Lake Mackenzie Community Forest Corporation.
Hello friends, my name is Andy Barnes. I am an appointed board member with the McLeod Lake Mackenzie Community Forest because I am a councilor with the District of Mackenzie.
I was born in Manitoba and joined the RCMP as a young adult. During my 23 year career I was posted in several communities and I retired as the Detachment Commander in Mackenzie. I have called Mackenzie my home for 35 years and through this time I have pastored a local church. My wife Adele and I have 3 children and 6 grandchildren who are a source of great joy to us.
I am excited to be on the board for the Community Forest. I am a big fan of the work that is accomplished for mitigation to combat forest fires, the Project Funding program which is a huge support to local not for profit groups, and of course the dividend payment each year to the shareholder communities. I’m hopeful that the government will expand the program as it makes sense to have local stewardship of our forests and benefit the communities of McLeod Lake and Mackenzie.
